The Challenge: Why Everything Has to Go Through One Place
For various reasons, Vietnam has decided it’s not ideal to offer tourists unlimited visa extensions.
Because of this, if you apply for a visa while already in the country, there’s a 97% chance you’ll receive something like this:

What Doesn’t Work:
- VPNs
- Handing your passport to someone else.This option is extremely illegal and poses a high risk of issues when leaving the country. Not because you’re being monitored by cameras, but because there's a high likelihood that a fake stamp is being used. (This happened a lot during COVID.)
Solution 1: Leave Vietnam, Apply for a Visa, and Return
This is the most straightforward method. Leave the country, apply for a visa at your destination, and in 3-5 days, you’ll have a 90-day visa.
Important Notes:
- Land Border Crossings:Upon leaving by land, Vietnam's databases may not immediately update your departure status. There have been cases where someone left, applied for a visa, and still received notifications for three days saying, “Leave the country before applying.”
- There are some cases of staying 10+ days out of Vietnam till approve. - Air Border Crossings:This issue doesn’t seem to occur when leaving Vietnam by air.
Solution 2: Express Visa Processing
This option is similar to the first but involves an additional Vietnamese intermediary to speed up the process.
Processing Time:
- 2-5 hours
- 1 day
Steps:
- Let us know that you want to use this service.
- Schedule your departure date in advance!Note: This service does not operate on weekends or Vietnamese public holidays.
- Make the payment.
- Send all required documents and visa-related information.
- Leave the country and, immediately after crossing the border, send a photo of your exit stamp.
- Wait for the agreed-upon time and receive your 90-day visa.

Solution 3: Apply Directly from Vietnam
You can also try applying for a visa directly while staying in Vietnam.

- You don’t need to pay for the visa again after each rejection.
- If you've already done a visa run and your application is "stuck" due to an error, you can:Adjust the dates in your application. Even transfer your visa application to someone else (e.g., sell it to a friend by changing the passport details).
