Following the premiere on the TNT channel, three episodes of the second season of the popular series 'Poor Oligarch' will be available for viewing on the online cinema platform PREMIER.
In the second season, the businessman Viktor Gnida (played by Vladimir Sychev), who has drastically lost his fortune, along with his loyal butler Adam (Maxim Lagashkin), finds themselves behind bars. They will face a struggle against local gangs, endless escape attempts, and an open war with the prison warden, as the poor oligarch encounters new challenges on his path to reclaiming his former life.
At the end of the first season, oligarch Viktor Gnida and his butler Adam managed to solve the sanctions issue and prepared for their escape to Russia. At least, that’s what they thought. However, their cunning plan to 'transfer all assets to the butler' did not go unnoticed by the British authorities. Thus, leaving London is not as simple as it seems: their helicopter is surrounded by English special forces, who detain Viktor and Adam to send them to prison.
In prison, the poor oligarch and his butler will encounter a world that is extremely hostile to newcomers. The prison warden strictly adheres to the letter of the law, the Russian guard Dmitry dreams of providing a 'sweet life' for his compatriot, and a multitude of local gangs are unwilling to let the newcomers in. However, the Russian oligarch will not perish anywhere, even in prison. For beyond the bars, the scent of freedom, his ancestral mansion, and piles of money beckon him.
In the second season, Vladimir Sychev, Maxim Lagashkin, and Karen Arutyunov will return to their roles. Additionally, viewers can expect the introduction of new vibrant characters: the Russophobe guard Dmitry, played by Timur Batrutdinov, the chubby inmate Yuri from the London colony (Dmitry Krasilov), the wild Mahmoud (Roman Yunusov), the assistant to the Chinese gang leader Chan (Roman Khan), the young lawyer Olga (Yanina Studilina), and many others.
At the helm of the series' continuation is the director of the first season, Gayk Asatryan. The screenplay is authored by Leonid Margolin, Gayk Asatryan, Karen Arutyunov, and Nikolai Shcherbakov. The project producers include Sarik and Gevond Andreasyan, Tina Kandelaki, Arkady Vodakhov, Boris Khanchalyan, and Marina Razumova.
Sarik Andreasyan, producer:
“Our series is for an educated audience. At first glance, it appears to be a light comedy, but the themes addressed within are political and moral, aimed at viewers who understand what has been happening in the world over the past two years and feel the global abuse towards Russia. In my opinion, the second season explores this theme more fully and accurately. When you watch the series, you will realize that the prison in the show is, in a way, a political map of the world, and what happens there is also happening to us in the real world.”
Maxim Lagashkin, actor:
“In the second season, my character – the butler Adam – will also become an oligarch! However, only for a very short time. Most of the time, he will spend in prison alongside his friend Viktor Gnida. The set was a lot of fun because we had a large number of new characters played by wonderful actors and comedians, so we can confidently say that we have raised the bar for humor. The first season was a kind of experiment, and I am personally pleased that the project was warmly received, extending its life. I am confident that the second season will also surprise you.”
