Dear members of the Graduate Admissions committee:
I want to study at the University of Padova because I believe it will be beneficial both for me and for the university. My interest in Italy and the Italian culture, along with my passion towards global issues and development will make this new step truly life-changing.
Considering my research and critical thinking skills, eagerness to work in the field of development, I will be an active student of the European and Global Studies program. I am a political science, international relations, and human rights major and I also have knowledge in other fields. This Master’s program seems perfect to me because in future I plan to work on such complicated global issues as multiculturalism, inequality, corruption, violence, discrimination, and more. The program will give me knowledge and experience that I need for my further development. I strongly believe that I am the perfect candidate for the program because I have a great interest in developing countries and communities and working on the problems that we face all together as people of one planet.
I have experience in doing research and completing various academic projects. I conducted research comparing Russian and Canadian mass media coverage of domestic violence. I also took an active part in research on old and new constitutions from every Russian region. Besides that, I completed my own research project on Presidential visits to Russian federal regions and their influence on the regions’ development. I also took an active part in a field research on an environmental situation in St. Petersburg and provided policy analysis on the issue.
My experience of living and studying on an international campus in the U.S. made me grow personally and intellectually, more than anything else did. It made me a true human rights, development, and equality activist. I attended many conferences and events on multiculturalism, injustice, human rights, and racial issues, and became fully involved into the global development problems and modern realities.
I am strongly connected to the idea of partnership of different societies and cultures and I believe in the advantages and the importance of the intercultural dialogue. That is also why I appreciate the international experience and perspective I can get while studying at the European and Global Studies program at the University of Padova. Meeting young people from other countries who care about development and share similar views is a fantastic opportunity. This graduate program which combines the best opportunities is unique, one of its kind, and it would be my pleasure and a great honor to contribute my knowledge and passion and to grow intellectually and professionally with other students at one of the best European universities.
Sincerely, Maria
