Mente3000

DJ, producer, artist manager, the Infinito Audio Network label owner.

Hi! Tell us about Mente3000 and your projects?

Hello everyone!!! Mente3000 came about 5 years ago; it was an evolution of my old name MEN-T-ZERO that was born in 1993 as a tag in the streets of my city Santiago in Chile, and also an old name of my facet as a dj. I currently live in Santiago de Chile, but in May I moved back to Barcelona, the city where I lived from 2001 to 2009, and where I developed another IDM music label called Fueradeserie! I am currently dedicated to my infinito AUDIO network label, doing a dj set and a monthly program at www. hkcr. live.

What tracks could you name that inspired you at the beginning of your career?

I started putting CDs in my city at the age of 17 in 1993, influenced by the rap of that time and alternative music like Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, etc. But very soon, in 1994 I was discovering and absorbing records by Aphex Twin, Orbital, The Orb, and the entire catalog of labels like WARP. I belong to the first generation of people who began to go to the first electronic parties in my country. In 1995 I was already totally involved in the Jungle and Drum and Bass of that time. I remember the first time I heard Jungle with T-Power, it marked me a lot. Records like Experience by The Prodigy or Timeless by Goldie’s are fundamental in my life.

But you also feel that nostalgia for the past, more than anything, for friends who are no longer there, and for that feeling of living and listening to something NEW. I was lucky to listen to and consume a lot of D’N'B / Jungle music at the right time.

Tell us a little about the scene and your journey?

Currently I feel happier as a DJ, when I started it was very difficult since this music was very strange for some people and little by little I was managing to have my own style, which is very confusing because it changes constantly since the love I feel for the Music makes me play very new and risky things every time. But you also feel that nostalgia for the past, more than anything, for friends who are no longer there, and for that feeling of living and listening to something NEW. I was lucky to listen to and consume a lot of D’N'B / Jungle music at the right time.

What are you working on right now?

I'm working with my friend Module in his studio preparing several bombs for the track, trying to channel my experience and better promote IAN (Infinito Audio Networks) and his artists, trying to make networks and friends with common interests…

Any future releases in plan?

I am very happy because in March my first ep appears on the Hyperboloid label, which I really like. This ep contains an original track and a remix by artists who revolve around the infinito AUDIO orbit... Hyper John, Beatrix Weapons, Pondus, P0brediabla and DIgitonica created beautiful remixes and made the ep look like a single conceptual work. THANK YOU!! Also now in February a single SPLIT appears on personalbrand postworld label where we remixed with Beatrix Weapons; my version is a remix to Beatrix Weapons that we did together with Module. Also in March, another track appears on a Chilean label called TSA Records in a compilation.

What would you like to say to our readers?

That they stay true to their tastes and that they support the underground and its artists. Enjoy life and the beautiful moments that music gives us. That they visit our bandcamp, soundcloud and instagram, and that I will be in Europe at the beginning of May with a lot of desire to do a dj set.

And the last one, what four jungle tracks do you consider the most in your opinion?

Many but these tracks come to my mind.

Altern 8 — Frequency
Ganja Kru — Super Sharp Shooter
Plug — Drum 'n' Bass for Papa
Boymerang ‎– You Like It Like That (Balance Of The Force)

Thanks for the support and the interview. A giant hug!
