My Disappointing Experience with ULTAHOST: How Their Employee Misled Me When Purchasing a VPS

When I decided to purchase a VPS server for my project, I thoroughly researched different options and chose ULTAHOST based on assurances from their live chat representative. Before purchasing, I repeatedly asked what port speed would be available to me, and the employee assured me that 500 Mbps would be available for my server. However, after I made the payment, everything changed.

Once I bought the server and opened a ticket to set up the promised speed, support informed me that 500 Mbps was not available and instead offered me more expensive service plans. I was stunned, as I had purchased the server specifically because of the employee’s assurances. When I requested a refund, they refused, stating that the service was purchased as part of a promotion.

This policy from ULTAHOST is simply outrageous. If a company cannot provide the promised service, they should at least offer a refund rather than trying to profit off customers by hiding behind promotional terms. Furthermore, the prices for ULTAHOST's services are significantly higher than those of their competitors. They charge for a 100 Mbps port speed at a price that doesn’t justify the service when compared to other VPS providers. For example, AEZA offers servers at a lower price with a 1 Gbps port speed.

In my case, $6.2 was charged to my card for a service that didn’t meet the advertised terms. Not only did they fail to provide the promised speed, but getting a refund was also impossible because it was an "on-sale" purchase. Notably, they run promotions on almost all their rates, enabling them to avoid refund obligations. This seems like a way to mislead customers.

Additionally, I was appalled by the attitude of their staff — unprofessional, incompetent, and focused solely on "milking" more money by pushing overpriced solutions rather than delivering the promised quality. The quality of their services lags significantly behind competitors, and the cost is higher. My experience with ULTAHOST was highly negative, and I certainly cannot recommend this service to anyone.

If you want to avoid a frustrating experience, poor service quality, and wasting your money, I recommend staying away from ULTAHOST. My case shows that this is not a company invested in its clients but rather in its profits, through deception and refusal to honor promised services.
