Еще немного о переводе реалий.
Вообще, я не фанат Чак Норриса, но он определенно нравится зрителям, ибо иначе он бы не стал именем нарицательным.
Вот недавно при чтении ИТ-перевода обнаруживаю такую фразу:
The new buzzword kid on the blocks is observability and you can bet many companies will be using it willy-nilly to spruce up their products. So what is observability? Should we accept what many are stating — that it’s basically monitoring, only on steroids? Bigger, better, faster; the new Chuck Norris of DevOps tools.
Поскольку Чак Норрис популярен и в России, переводчик не стал его переделывать в условного «Илью Муромца», «Костю Дзю» или «Владимира Епифанцева»:
Сейчас у нас в тренде наблюдаемость (observability), и многие вендоры уже берут его на вооружение. Что такое наблюдаемость? Просто навороченная версия мониторинга? «Быстрее, выше, сильнее» — настоящий Чак Норрис среди DevOps-инструментов!
Однако, в английском применение у Чак Норриса, конечно, шире. Например, хакеры его именем называют ботнеты:
Other more recent appearances of botnets targeting SOHO routers include the Chuck Norris variants that affected multiple Linux MIPS–embedded devices during 2009/2010. The hilarious name was not due to the routers being hacked by Chuck Norris himself, unfortunately. Особенно у нейтивов популярна фраза "to go all Chuck Norris", по смыслу похожа на наше выражение «крушить все и вся»:
• If [errors happen and] your servers are hosted in the cloud, you’ll have a long walk and have to go all Chuck Norris to enter the guarded data centers of Amazon, Google, or whoever your cloud providers are.
• "How much trouble could he be? He’s a businessman, what's he gonna do, go all Chuck Norris on us?"
• Oh my goodness gracious, if my brother in Christ raises his hand one more time during this committee meeting, I will go all Chuck Norris on his grandma.
Кстати, дело дошло даже до того, что его пишут маленькими буквами:
• She will go all chuck norris on yo' ass if you call her fat.
